Solution 3: With Admin Permissions, Run QuickBooks

You must ensure that QuickBooks must have the required permission to operate with no problem. 

  1. Begin by closing the QuickBooks Desktop. Now, right-click on the QB icon which you will find on your desktop screen and select Run as administrator. 

  2. The auto-opening of the company file might fail. In this case, select the company file and open it.

Note: Re-download the application from its website if the error appears while installing the QB desktop.

Solution 4: Transfer your company file to the default location

This step must be followed when your company file is saved in a different location. By following the steps below, you must move the company file to the default location. 

  1. Close the QB desktop and browse the location of your company file. 

  2. Now, right-click the company file auto-set with .QBW and copy it. 

  3. Go to the default location and paste it there. 

Location: C:/Users/PublicDocuments/Intuit/QuickBooks/Company files

  1. Launch QuickBooks and click on Find a company file.

  2. Following this, click on Local Drives and search for the company file name. 

  3. Select the company file and open it. 

Note: In case you are in multi-user mode, make sure to share your files once you move them.

Step 1: Renaming the .ND file

  1. Browse the location of the company file and look for the corresponding .ND file of your company file. 

  2. Now, right-click the .ND file and choose the option ‘Rename.’ 

  3. Add .old as an extension at the end of the file name to modi. 

Example: MycompanyFileName.qbw.nd.old 

Note: Proceed with Step 2 if you are in a multi-user mode.

Step 2: On your server manager, run the QuickBooks Database Server Manager

  1. In case you did not install the QuickBooks Tool Hub, quickly install the application. 

  2. Once downloaded, you will find ‘Network Issues’ in the Tool Hub; select it. 

  3. Following this, select QuickBooks Database Server Manager and choose Start Scan. 

  4. After this, just hit on Close. 

Note: In case you have a BitDefender application in your system, remember to exclude it from the QuickBooks folder before scanning.
